Description
Red Coral used as a gem material is a branching skeleton-like structure produced by small marine animals. Deposits are found along the coasts of western Mediterranean countries, Bay of Biscay, Japan, and numerous pacific island chains. It is often harvested by divers to prevent damage, and production is increasingly controlled by environmental laws. Coral ranges from light red to ox blood red.
