- In detail
The wiring for these systems can be run and concealed in a variety of ways. During new home construction, it is highly recommended that the building is "Pre-Wired" for security. This involves running all of the wiring through the ceiling space and walls so that a wired system can be easily installed at the end of construction.
Why Should I Choose a Wired Security System?
- New Construction
Almost without exception, a wired system should be used in new building construction. - Flexibility
A wired system allows you to mix and match a variety of devices from different manufacturers. - Appearance
Wireless system transmitters are often more visible than wired sensors. - Lifetime
Wireless transmitters have a limited lifetime. Wiring in your house or business should last a lifetime!
Wireless Security Systems have become more common in recent years as reliability and maintenance have improved, and equipment cost has decreased. Volta carries a wide variety of systems to meet your specific requirements and budget. We commonly recommend wireless for a variety of applications.
Wireless systems generally consist of a control panel, keypad, siren, remote door and window sensors, as well as remote motion and glass-break sensors.
Using a wireless system is virtually the same as using a wired system. Remote sensors contain a battery that requires periodic replacement every 1-3 years, and the control panel contains a backup battery that requires replacement every 1-3 years.
We recommend installing a wired system due to the lower maintenance and a wider selection of devices, but wireless systems may often be the best option.
